        Amotech's AVL5M02200 is discontinued and replaced by the AVLC5S02050 and AVLC5S02100. The Amotech AVLC5S02050 Multilayer Chip Varistor is a circuit that normally functions as a non-conductor. When overload is applied, it becomes a conductor that transfers overcurrent from the circuit to ground at the critical voltage level. The Amotech AVLC5S02100 Multilayer Chip Varistor shows nonlinear V-I behavior similar to that of Si semiconductors. It has very high resistance under normal conditions, but becomes very large at critical overvoltage levels. The Amotech AVLC5S02100 Multilayer Chip Varistor is commonly used as a non-conductor, but when overvoltage is applied, it becomes a conductor that diverts the current from the circuit to ground-based equipment.
